Evening of Italian Songs

Ann and her colleagues after the Italian Art Song Concert

On Saturday, March 5 at 7 pm, Ann participated in The Boston Art Song Society's Italian art song recital, hosted by the Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts. The Boston Art Song Society is dedicated to spreading awareness about the classical art song genre to the general public. Ann performed three art songs by Ottorino Respighi, which told stories of doubting one's craft, a bittersweet parting between two lovers, and unrequited love. Ann and her colleague Elijah Blaisdell interlaced both of their song sets and sang to each other to create one cohesive set and narrative. Each song embodies a different character's intimate perspective and reality, highlighting the abundant possibilities for interpretation of these songs by singers and the audience. Respighi's art songs capture the stories of ordinary people who live extraordinary lives and experience complex layers of emotional vulnerability. It was a wonderful opportunity for Ann to participate in this concert and she looks forward to future opportunities to perform with the Boston Art Song Society.
