Ann Wins Dickinson College Concerto Competition 2014
Ann won the Dickinson College Concerto Competition on September 16, 2014. She received the opportunity to perform with a live orchestra that aided in her growth as a professional opera singer.
During the rehearsal process Ann learned a lot about what it means to fit her sound into the large wash of sound from the orchestra. Although challenging at times, Ann worked hard to ensure that she truly internalized the tempo of the piece and made use of its slowness in her character development and presentation.
Ann performed Leonard Bernstein's "Lamentation," the Finale from Symphony no. 1 "Jeremiah," as a soloist at the Dickinson College orchestra and jazz concert on November 16, 2014. At the concert Ann demonstrated strong vocal artistry and a unique interpretation of the piece. She performed under the direction of Professor Robert Pound, director and conductor of the Dickinson College orchestra. The concert took place at First Lutheran Church in Carlisle, PA.
Ann feels honored to have performed with the Dickinson College orchestra and cannot wait until the next opportunity to sing with an orchestra in the future.
