On January 17, 2019 Ann will be performing the role of The Brother in The Scarlet Ibis, music by Stefan Weisman and libretto by David Cote, with Boston Opera Collaborative. This opera is based on the short story by James Hurst. It is a coming of age story about two brothers, one who is born healthy and normal, and another, Doodle, who is born severely handicapped. As the older, healthy, brother tries to reconcile Doodle’s shortcomings, Brother simply pushes him too far. This story will open your minds and your hearts to youth’s false sense of invisibility and how childhood fears and masculine development can be deadly.
